I returned to London from Gloucester and had a few days before departure.<\/p>\n

This post \u00a0was missed\u00a0in its\u00a0correct sequence and actually took place on 18th October, the day prior to my trip to Ireland. \u00a0It involved lots of running and an obstacle course \u00a0creating\u00a0active, muddy\u00a0activities which seemed great fun to the participants and apart from the super fit\u00a0required assistance and teamwork from other participants or helpers. \u00a0Many runners were in team colours and some ran as costumed characters. Not all obstacles are shown. \u00a0Son Number 1 and his girlfriend had participated \u00a0in one some months before, were not running but were part of the large and vocal support team for her siblings and the father.<\/p>\n

Sibling support. \u00a0The youngest had taken the lead, completed the course the maximum number\u00a0of times, 3, with grace and seemingly minimum effort and had\u00a0a lot of time to hang around waiting for his family to finish. \u00a0Elder son retired injured, OK, but unable to run.<\/p><\/div>\n

What was a leap of hope and faith for many. \u00a0The end of the run unless you count getting down from the hay bales on the other side or the desire of many to run the course up to twice more.<\/p><\/div>\n

Steve had been outrun by his kids so Son Number 1 did a swift change, ducked under the ropes and joined him as a running buddy<\/p><\/div>\n

Finished with mud, pendants and a sense of achievement to prove it<\/p><\/div>\n

He then continued on to accompany Steph in her\u00a0quest to run the course 3 times. \u00a0Under the net.<\/p><\/div>\n

The runners had a successful day out and the home based support team got to rest their vocal chords until it was time for \u00a0pizza dinner and the retelling of the events of the day.<\/p>\n

As a kid, Son Number 1, despite engaging in lots of sport did little running. \u00a0Seems to have made up for it in adulthood \u00a0with the addition of a manifest\u00a0sense of \u00a0team solidarity. \u00a0Pity he lives so far away. \u00a0Steve arrived\u00a0around 4.15am the next morning \u00a0in fine form to drive us to the airport to allow us to catch planes in\u00a0opposing directions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
